§ 01 / Starting scenario

The typical business.

Demo persona
01.01 · Scenario

Who we built this demo for.

This demo represents a premium joinery in the high-end segment: 8 staff, specialising in one-off pieces, interior fit-out for villas and design clients. The fictional "Schreinerei Horst" in the Taunus makes furniture as art objects, prices from €5,000 upwards.

The typical problem for such trades businesses: they're world-class technically and aesthetically — but present themselves like a run-of-the-mill village tradesman with a hobby homepage. The demo shows how to make premium craft visible — through a brand system and portfolio aesthetics, not through discount banners.

What the demo demonstrates

  • Premium aesthetics for high-end craft
  • A complete brand system: logo, colours, type, guidelines
  • Portfolio gallery with a project case structure
  • Headless CMS for easy project upkeep
  • Studio-consultation booking instead of "Enquire now!"
  • Blog with substantial articles on wood, technique, design
§ 02 / Implementation

What's inside the demo.

Tech & Content
02.01 · Structure

The structure.

The demo is deliberately built differently from typical trades websites: minimalist, lots of white space, large images, reduced navigation. The brand system is part of the demo.

Pages in the demo

  • Homepage with a pared-back hero film loop and project teasers
  • Workshop with team, values, process — instead of "About"
  • Portfolio with 6 reference projects (case-study structure)
  • Studio appointment instead of a contact form — deliberate filtering
  • Journal (not "blog") with 4 long-form articles on material and craft

Brand system in the demo

  • Logo variations: main, monochrome, icon, reverse
  • Colour palette: soot black, oak ochre, linen beige, workshop grey
  • Typography: Geist Mono for display, EB Garamond for body text
  • Design tokens: as CSS custom properties, for later scaling
  • Brand guidelines as a separate PDF (downloadable in the demo)

Technical implementation

  • Next.js with Sanity headless CMS for projects and journal
  • Cloudflare Images with automatic WebP/AVIF delivery
  • Lighthouse 96 despite being fully image-heavy
  • LCP 1.4s with hero video · CLS 0.01
§ 03 / What it demonstrates

What you can test.

Live features
03.01 · Features

Live integrations.

On the staging URL you can see what premium craft looks like digitally:

  • Brand in action: Logo system, typography, colour applied on a real page — not as a moodboard
  • Portfolio structure: Each project has a case story with context, process, result — a benchmark for later real client projects
  • Sanity CMS access: On request you get a test login to see how easy project upkeep is (no technical knowledge needed)
  • Studio appointment booking: Deliberately filtering — not every enquirer is a fit for the joinery. The demo shows this premium logic
  • Performance despite image load: Lighthouse 96 despite large hero videos and a gallery — through aggressive image optimisation and lazy-loading
